grrrrrr

I used manic colors for this try out.
It's really cool, almost fluor.

This Wall P'animal will be in shop soon in different colors,
keep you posted!

Tiger Woods, behave handsome one!

(If you wonder why my screen prints always look a bit blurry on photographs?
It's because I like to use course grain acrylic paper
It gives them an instant old fashioned look)

Sometimes you have these lucky finds in secondhand shops.
This is a embroidery piece,
the size of a double bed,
in amazing vibrant colors.
It sounds unbelievable,
but I think it's made by hand.
Quite cool if you ask me.

I found this 5 minutes ago.
I wondered what he was up to,
walking in and out.

He is a collector,
just like mum.

But the man who replaced this original beauty,
for this self made one.......

I'll speak no further.

Wall P'animals

I am so proud to present my very first try out from my new series.
(now in shop)

Meet the Wall P'animals!

Of course when I think of things for children,
I am inspired by my own childhood.
Born in '74, of course
my radiators were painted in orange and
was the floor covered with brown carpet.
My mother and I had such fun about it yesterday in the print studio.

The other color combination often found was purple and olive green.
So that will be my other color combination.
Mixed by our teacher, who does a far better job then I, mixing colors.

I'm in love with the messy-ness of this print,
(chalk powder helps me to get the effect)
it just flew straight from of the '70,
don't you think?

I know what will be hanging next to all your gifts on our walls.....
(please be patient, the wall-Arts are safely stored away while we are building our home, they will come out when all is ready to be hung!!!)

So long

Misses is getting on the love boat. She sneaks out in the middle of the night with help of her big magical ladder. Mr. Monkey cries big golden tears. Her will keep the fort save. So long, Baby, have a good ride!

Sweet dreams to all, i wish you love boat trips every night!

This screen print is made by printing seven times on 1 paper. The tears from Mr. Monkey are made by silver pen and are so magical, they could not be photographed!

Misses can be found in my bedroom.

I was having such good time in my studio,
I also printed a Elephant Mouse Flower!

5.3.10

The making of a screen print Guusje's style.

It all starts with a design.
My white paper cut flower field is the base and inspiration of this work,
That left behind us, it's time to move on and work in sketchbook and sheet.
It depends which effect you after what technique is best to use. I decided to use 'pen on sheet' for this design, it gives a scribbly result.
Fine, fragile and a bit wonky.

'Photo film elixir' on the frame,
magic light and you are ready to go off to get some printing done.

I really like multiple color designs,
but I don't have the luxury to work on multiple frames,
So i use good old fashioned tape to blind.
An incredible amount of work !

I mixed a few inks (base, white color pigments and a special liquid to stop the ink from clogging your mesh to quick), quite challenging to get the colors right.

Ink all set to fill up the mesh and print.

Oops!
You win some, you lose more ;-)

A shower after a few prints is necessary.
This profession is a lot about cleaning up.
I use inks on water base that you can rinse under the tab at home.

Here you can see the scribbly effect. I like it.

And this frame here, is a sneak preview of my next adventure with the girl and the window!
Soon to be shared with the rest of the world,
but I worked so hard the past days,
I will take a few off to get back on track to run this household ;-)

Two of the best prints in this color scheme are for sale in my shop.
Details over there!
